The other quarterfinals will pit Aussie lucky-loser Jarmila Groth against Spaniard Arantxa Parra Santonja and Latvian Anastasija Sevastova versus Aussie Anastasia Rodionova. Groth overcame German Kristina Barrois 2-6, 6-1, 7-5; Parra Santonja came back to beat German Julia Goerges 3-6, 7-5, 6-2; Sevastova erased 39-year-old Japanese Kimiko Date Krumm 6-1, 4-2, retired; and Rodionova outlasted Swiss Stefanie Voegele 6-4, 2-6, 6-3. Date Krumm quit with a right calf injury. The French Open will get underway in less than three weeks in Paris.
