New York, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Atlanta Braves pitcher Tommy Hanson was named
National League Rookie of the Month for June on Friday.
The right-hander was a perfect 4-0 to go along with a 2.48 earned run average
in five starts during the month. He held opposing hitters to a .222 average in
29 frames.
Hanson, 22, registered his first major league victory on June 12 on the road
against the Baltimore Orioles. In that outing, the rookie gave up a pair of
runs and nine hits in 5 2/3 innings.
Others rookies receiving votes were: Milwaukee infielder Casey McGehee (.368
batting average, eight doubles, five homers and 18 RBI); Pittsburgh outfielder
Andrew McCutchen (.284 four doubles, five triples, one homer and 18 RBI); and
Nationals pitcher Jordan Zimmermann (1-1, 1.90 ERA).

In his first game as the new starting guard this past Sunday, Foye had 10 points; five rebounds and 8 assists. More importantly, he logged 34 minutes of playing time; his third highest run of the season.
Adam Morrison, of the Charlotte Bobcats, was the favorite early on in the season after averaging 15+ PPG through the first month of the season. Ever since his torrid start, Morrison’s point production has declined each month. This really isn’t surprising, considering at 6’8” he only weighs 205 lbs. Obviously he will need to hit the weights big time during the off-season in order to keep from breaking down in the future.
